Moment Of Pride: Celebrities Receive Civil Awards On 23rd March 2018

From Khalid Anam, Shehzad Roy to Mohsin Hamid read along to find who was bestowed with the prestigious honor

Pakistan Day this year, i.e. 23rd March 2018, dawned to be a very special day indeed, for all those stars who have worked hard over the years. Recognition was awarded to our favorite celebs for their contribution to the society and their respective fields in the form of Civil Awards in the field of science, technology, engineering, welfare, literature, arts, sports and media.
Now where we had earlier reported on those receiving the honor, yesterday it was good to see few more included in that list as Shehzad Roy bagged his second Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his humanitarian work as well as Sarfraz Ahmed who became the youngest Pakistani cricketer to be bestowed with the honor.
With the ceremony held yesterday, late human rights activist Asma Jahangir who passed away a few weeks back, was awarded Nishan-i-Imtiaz for her relentless services for the citizens of Pakistan. Late singer and televangelist, Junaid Jasmhed was also awarded with Sitar-I-Imtiaz for his services.
But where others were honored for the first time, we saw singer/activist Shehzad Roy returning to receive another Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his uncountable services with his organization.
Another return was of novelist Mohsin Hamid who shot to fame with his book Moth Smoke.Hamid, himself was caught off guard with the award as he told Daily Times , “The honor took me completely by surprise. One of my friends in a Whatsapp group told me about it and I honestly thought he was joking, until he forwarded me a link of a newspaper story, in which my name was part of those honored."
Adding further, Mohsin shared, 'It was quite a memorable moment for me. There were around 20 people present. People who have contributed immensely to their respective fields and who belong from various walks of life were present and it indeed felt great to rub shoulders with them."
Another deserving personality to be bestowed was Khalid Anam with the Presidential Pride of performance for his over thirty years of services in the field of music, theatre, drama and for his endless work in promoting children education.
Others to be honored with Sitara-i-Imtiaz were novelist Muhammad Hanif, late Amjad Sabri and Ameena Saiyid to name a few. Fidel Castro former Cuban President was honored with Nishan -e-Pakistan for rendering unwavering services to Pakistan.
Indeed a proud moment for the country, HIP would like to congratulate all the honorees as each and every single individual truly deserved the recognition award bestowed upon them.
