PSL match: Helicopters used to dry wet pitch at Gaddafi Stadium

LAHORE: The crucial second eliminator between the Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on March 21 was hit by rain in Lahore, prompting challenging task for the ground management to employee all its machinery to dry the wet outfield in no time.
To ensure that that the game goes smoothly the management called upon the services of two helicopters to dry out the rain-soaked wet pitch at Gaddafi Stadium.
The two helicopters were provided by the Punjab government and the Pakistan Army, respectively.

The chairman of Pakistan cricket board (PCB) also took to Twitter to share the process with the patiently waiting cricket fans;

Heli drying the ground in Lahore. As in 1996 World Cup. All systems are GO! Inshallah!

The PCB Chairman also posted a video on Twitter showing helicopters descending from the skies.
The last time a helicopter was summoned to dry the pitch during an international match in Pakistan dates back in 1996 for the World Cup final between Sri Lanka and Australia.
A similar trick was also used at Moin Ul Haq stadium in Patna, India in a match between Kenya and Zimbabwe on February 27, 1996.
Australia had also used a helicopter to dry the rain-affected ground in a Test match against Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground two years ago.
